Picking open source by star count alone is risky. Stars measure popularity, not quality or maintenance, and a repository that trended three years ago keeps its stars long after the commits stop.

So this list ranks by stars but shows the last commit date next to each entry. A high star count paired with a long-stale commit history is itself information worth reading. Language and license are listed too, so you can check them before adopting anything.

The numbers are pulled fresh from GitHub every day. What you see here is what was observed that day, not an estimate or a rounded figure.

How this list is built: only products whose site is a GitHub repository, ranked by that day's observed star count, top 24. No editorial weighting.
