We implemented the IPv8 Internet-Draft in the Linux Kernel, Musl Libc, and BGP

This GoonHost engineering post documents actually implementing the IPv8 Internet-Draft, a proposal the authors note most engineers would dismiss as an April Fools RFC, across the Linux 6.6 kernel, musl libc, iproute2, FRRouting, Nginx, and cURL. On a 10-node multi-AS QEMU testbed the stack worked, serving HTTP over 64-bit addresses. The write-up then dissects why it fails on the real Internet: the 28-byte header breaks path MTU, legacy switch ASICs punt frames to the CPU, and RIR fee models would collapse.
