Agent Skills

A skill is a folder of instructions, scripts and resources that an agent can discover and load when a task calls for it, and this repository was OpenAI's catalog of them for Codex. Skills under .system arrive with Codex itself, while the .curated and .experimental folders were pulled in on request through the skill-installer skill, by name or by GitHub directory URL. Licensing sits inside each skill folder rather than at the repository root. The repository now carries a deprecation notice at the top: current Codex skill and plugin examples moved to openai/plugins, and the format is documented as an open standard at agentskills.io.
