Reactor Atlas

Reactor Atlas puts every nuclear reactor on a single world map and hands you a year slider that runs from 1954, so the map thins out or fills in as you drag it, with Obninsk, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima marked along the way. The view flips between a globe and a flat projection, and the reactors can be narrowed down by power or research use, by fuel and by reactor type.

Around the map sit pages built from the same dataset. Countries are ranked by installed net capacity alongside the share of national electricity that comes from nuclear, and separate lists cover what is under construction, the largest plants, the units that have run longest and the recent grid connections and shutdowns. Research reactors come from the IAEA database, grouped by country. A monitoring section gathers what operators, regulators and governments publish about individual plants, keeping the original headline and a link back to the source, and it can be followed as a weekly email or narrowed to alerts for one country or one plant. Everything is available in English and Spanish.
