Starboard does not wait behind a hotkey. It sits permanently beside the macOS Dock, visible on every Space, still there over full-screen apps, and it never takes focus away from whatever you are working in while tracking the Dock's height and position live. Behind the panel a real zsh login shell stays alive, so cd, history and state carry across commands instead of resetting the way a one-shot command runner does.
When the Dock's height is not enough, Cmd+E stretches the panel to the full height of the screen and snaps it back again. It ships a dark look of its own with a muted nautical ANSI palette. The app is written in Swift, MIT licensed, and distributed as ad-hoc signed builds on GitHub Releases.
