calesthio/OpenMontage ↗· Python· AGPL-3.0· Last commit 1d ago
OpenMontage is an open-source video production system that runs inside an AI coding assistant such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf or Codex. Most AI video tools return one clip per prompt; this one treats a request as a whole production, moving through research, proposal, script, scene plan, asset generation, edit and composition. The proposal, script, scene plan, asset and publish steps each pause for your sign-off before the run continues.
Twelve pipelines cover animated explainers, cinematic trailers, talking heads, screen demos, podcast repurposing, subtitling and dubbing, and documentary montages cut from free archive and stock footage rather than animated stills. A local board called Backlot shows each stage, take, provider choice and dollar spent while the run happens, then replays a finished production from its recorded timestamps. Setup needs only Python, FFmpeg, Node and an agent; every provider API key is optional, and offline Piper narration covers the no-key path. Sample productions documented in the repository logged costs between $0.02 and $1.33, and the code is released under AGPLv3.
