Blackbox Checker

The MLC holds $656M in mechanical royalties nobody has claimed, and none of it reaches a songwriter whose name is not attached to the work. Paste a Spotify artist, album or song link, or search by name, and Blackbox Checker returns the state of every recording it finds: linked to a work with all shares claimed, matched on some streaming services but not others, linked but with shares nobody owns, or missing from the MLC database altogether. Each state comes with a plain reading of what it means and what is sitting behind it.

There is a clock on this. The MLC has said it will begin distributing the oldest unmatched months by market share in January 2027, and a month that has gone out cannot be recovered. The check itself is free and asks for no signup.
